Decent storm around the Shoals today. Dumped a lot of rain. Some trees down due to lightning and flooding in the usual suspect areas around Muscle Shoals and Florence.

There looks to be good MCS potential Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

We will float away here in Tuscaloosa if we get anymore rain. There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Nearing a foot of rainfall on the month of July.

Gotta watch for Derecho potential Sunday per the Euro. Bulk shear 45-50kts, SBcape 4000-5000 with significant dry air aloft.

Shear looks pretty impressive for parts of Kentucky Tennessee late Friday in the evening for this time year ... I don’t post much bout summer threats . But this one has potential and my attention. Got some serious derecheo potential ....

Always incredible to see up-close high FPS motion of a TOG.

Confirmed tornado just went right through Marshalltown, IA. It looks really nasty on radar. Not good.

They issued a tornado emergency for that one too.

The Katie, OK tornado was some of the wildest video I've ever seen.
Agreed! Here's a link for anyone who hasn't seen it

Absolutely disgusting reading the utter amount of incompetence leading up to the Missouri boat sinking.

- A severe thunderstorm warning with wording specifically mentioning hazadorous boating conditions on Rock Lake was issued BEFORE they even embarked. The captain was aware and chose to ignore the warning.

-According to survivors, the captain THEN told everyone no life jackets were needed and they were kept in storage above the seats. Nobody was able to access them and all 17 dead + the 14 survivors were not wearing any

-The boat was enclosed with no escape options in event of a sinking. They were pretty much in a metal container with the windows being sealed shut. The only reason there were ANY survivors was the roof came apart after sinking and allowed those who were still conscious to swim upwards.

Absolutely disgusting. The entire Ride The Ducks organization needs to be shut down, and criminal charges need to be brought against anyone who allowed that boat to depart and who did not provide access to life jackets. 17 people died due to their utter incompetence.

Starting to raise another eyebrow for the system around the 31st. Both Euro and GFS have another anomalously deep trough dropping into the Midwest. Very Spring like on both models. If wind shear ticks up some, the Euro is very problematic.

Its so weird that July and August may be the two most active months of the year. This is something else if that verifies.
