Power just came back on here in Starkville. We were never directly affected by a tornado but the power was out for about 10 hours across the entire city/campus.

That's the number I'm getting too... I'd imagine the official number won't go much higher as the storms have been out of the state for a while. Deadliest tornado day in MS since... IDK when. Too busy to look it up. At least since 92.
I did see a higher number of fatalities for the Smithville tornado mentioned in the MEG NWSChat after the LSR went out, but that number hadn't been confirmed.

i'm still worried the death toll in tuscaloosa and jefferson counties in alabama (at 15 and 6 i believe at the moment) could rise significantly.

i heard 13 were killed in walker county, i think the majority (all?) from that tornado that moved through cordova.

Hmm. CNN is reporting Mississippi Emergency Management is only confirming 18 deaths in MS. I keep getting 27 like you did, but either they are behind or there is double counting/misinformation. Either way... deadliest day in MS in a long time. TN is up to at least 8 fatalities also..

Fatalities in AR, MS, TN, AL, GA, and VA. Wow. And tornadoes in quite a few more states.

Not really important.. but related to the storms.

Design and layout of the Decatur Daily was moved to the Florence production facility beginning at 6p.m. Wednesday and completed about 8:30p.m. In addition to the Decatur Daily and the Times Daily, the Florence production facility last night also printed the Cullman Times, Athens News Courier, and weekly newspapers for Pell City and Leeds. All four papers are normally printed in Cullman at the Cullman Times, and all are owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI), based in Birmingham, AL. The Cullman Times facility was damaged by a tornado yesterday.

Jeff Morrow out in Pleasant Grove, AL where not many cameras have been yet. It looks absolutely terrible out there.

All the morning shows will be very interesting yet somber to watch as the light reveals what happened.

The Super Outbreak killed more than 300 if I recall correctly so let's not quite jump to conclusions yet even though I fear that this storm could overtake that seeing the populated areas it has decimated.

It has a big bow echo blowing through much of north central Alabama during the first half of the day.
Check.

I think that was a pretty amazing event in itself. Probably be forgotten now tho...

I guess that would "use up" a lot of our instability if it happened?

It would. It just remains to be seen whether that actually happens or not.
I guess that answers that...
