BREAKING / NBC News: DOJ announces the arrest of Russian National Mariia Butina, age 29, for "infiltrating organizations having influence in American politics, for the purpose of advancing the interests of the Russian Federation."

She was arrested yesterday.

Again, the NRA does not have our best interests at heart. Paragraph 31 of the criminal complaint is a doozy.

Hillary Clinton not indicted for one. Running guns to Mexico another.

They can have an affair all they want to but in their positions it is grounds for immediate dismissal. As an officer in the Army, if I was caught having an affair I would have been drummed out of the service.

Why shouldn't the Commander in Chief be held to similar standards?

It would not have been hard to convict the Hildabeast. There are mountains of evidence. The political will was lacking. Sessions should reopen the investigation and she shut rot in Leavenworth the rest of her worthless life.

Hillary, even if prosecuted, wouldn't have received anything any worse than Petraeus. There's a track record in these types of cases, and no one has ever been able to make a case that Hillary's treatment by DOJ was disparate compared to others in a similar situation. I'm not going to debate the semantics of intent, but the FBI (even their most aggressive agents on the investigation) didn't believe that she demonstrated the intent necessary to make it a prosecutable case. Unlike Petraeus or others in whose cases the intent was readily apparent.

Life in Leavenworth is conspiratorial internet garbage. Matt from 2-3 years ago would've known that. But, as you've had to prostrate yourself more and more to defend Trump, you've firmly moved over to the world of conspiracy to reconcile the cognitive dissonance.

Don't understand why people are feigning shock about Trump's outrageous behavior and rhetoric today.

The man is never going to critisize Putin or Russia. Even if it means attacking his own people and betraying his own country. He's either mentally unstable or compromised by Russia. Pick one.

Can I pick both?

I'm actually looking forward to Matt's take on this one. Any bets on whether the play will be 1) An unbelievable spin, 2) "Obama did ..." deflection, or 3) Fake news?
Edit: Oops, forgot option 4) Completely ignore it and say nothing because he can't come up with a good defense.

Remember the Obama apology tour that America did not ask for or want? Well, now it is Trump's turn. This was a criticism of the very country he is supposed to lead. It was as if he was standing apart from the United States, ashamed and condemning. Quite the contrast to Putin who stood by and defended his country vociferously.

I get it. Our Justice and Intelligence Department is far from perfect, but to completely undermine them while coddling the Russian intelligence agencies. Scary.

Not an expert, but decided to delve into it anyway making an money maker out of herself (not very difficult given her stances on literally everything). Welcome to left's new flavor of the week.

What she did is so much worse than Petraeus. I promise you every bad actor in the world has her emails. The Leavenworth remark was rhetorical. That would also be too cozy. Send her money maker to GITMO. The Evan of 2-3 years ago would not stand for a jutice system for the ruling class and another one for the rest of us.

Had Trump admitted that Russia meddled, the headline would be "Trumps Admits Collusion"! " Election Results Altered"! He was not going to give them what they wanted. Did you see the 12 indictments handed down Friday ? No collusion mentioned and the Deputy AG stated that no Americans were willingly involved and no election results were altered. He also said the 12 were presumed to be innocent. There will never be a trial. Done deal.

Also, the IC has been trying to undermine Trump from the beginning of his campaign to this very day. Not sure I trust them much anymore either!

This shows an amazing level of brainwashing into the Trump cult. The DOJ did something you didn’t agree with, so they can never be trusted. Trump lies daily, but let’s believe him because he isn’t Obama or Hillary.

Don’t forget that Jr. had dinner with Butina a few days before the Trump tower meeting. Lots of smoke!

Playing devil's advocate here, what if what we saw Monday was nothing but a manifestation of Trump's personality: one driven by an incredible ego. This explanation makes sense when he praises authoritarian figures such as Putin, Jingpin, and Kim. Let's view this in a world where there was absolutely no collusion with the administration, do you see the summit going any differently? I don't. I still see Trump praising and admiring Putin because of his leadership style (one that has no place in America). Remember the joke, "President for life. We should give that a shot someday."

When it comes to anything Russia related, it seems he takes it as an attack on the legitimacy of his presidency. And due to his ego, he can do nothing but air his grievances whether it throws the country or the people HE selected under the bus. It seems now, Russia meddling in American politics is clearer than ever. But I have a feeling this wasn't the first election done so....by a long shot.

“You know, I’m, like, a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years,” Trump told Fox News last December.

Trump says he has "one of the great memories of all time"

Asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” who he talks with consistently about foreign policy, Trump responded, “I’m speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things."

" ... I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that"
