Interesting...

On Friday, U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III blasted Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team during a hearing on former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, saying that they are only concerned with trying to take down President Donald Trump.

Mueller's team claimed that their authority comes from an August 2017 "scope memo" and that some of their powers are "secret" because "they involve ongoing investigations and national security matters that cannot be publicly disclosed."

Ellis found the comments from Mueller's team about having secret powers to be comical and he was not persuaded.

"It's unlikely you're going to persuade me the special prosecutor has power to do anything he or she wants," Ellis told Mueller's team. "The American people feel pretty strongly that no one has unfettered power."

"We said this was what [the] investigation was about, but we are not bound by it and we were lying," Ellis continued, mocking Mueller's team.
The judge also gave the government two weeks to hand over the unredacted “scope memo” or provide an explanation why not -- after prosecutors were reluctant to do so, claiming it has material that doesn’t pertain to Manafort.

I applaud the judge for challenging the prosecution. Every defendant deserves a fair trial. I don’t think he should have done so in such an opinionated fashion though.

I’m still confident he will make the right decision, whatever that turns out to be. He has a good reputation.

Here's the second hit to Mueller's team. This isn't a good look as the first hit came during Thursday's grilling by the first judge...

A federal judge has rejected special counsel Robert Mueller’s request to delay the first court hearing in a criminal case charging three Russian companies and 13 Russian citizens with using social media and other means to foment strife among Americans in advance of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Sen McCain says in retrospect he should have gone with his first instinct and picked Joe Liebemann as his running mate instead of Sarah Palin. He also says he doesn't want Trump to attend his funeral and wants Mike Pence to represent the White House. I agree with him on both.

In retrospect, the Republicans should've never nominated McCain. He isn't a conservative was likely the weakest candidate in recent history. I respect the service he has done for this country...the biggest sacrifice a citizen can make...but he isn't doing himself any favors with this "hindsight" analysis.

Palin was a nutter that directly led to Trump.

Of course you do. I would expect nothing less.

Evan, I have a question. Do you think this country, our Republic (at least for now) would be better off had Hillary had won ?

Matt, I'm still waiting on multiple responses from you from previous posts. Once those are taken care of I'll be happy to answer your question. But, my answer is probably going to disappoint you as it won't be what you thought it was going to be.

You're defending a lady whose family ends up in the drunken brawl with police nearly every month. This isn't even close, Matt.

Maybe that's the American leadership Matt loves and longs for

So, what constitutes as "cultural appropriation" anymore? Is it a term selectively applied to what I like to call outrage/victimization culture? A high school girl gets ripped apart by leftists for wearing a Chinese themed dress, but Rihanna and other celebs get praised for dressing up in Catholic culture. Why can people selectively apply rage and get attention for that? Why is it unacceptable for a girl to wear a dress respectfully to a prom, but it a-okay to lampoon an entire religion at a celebrity gala? I'm so over this double standard and hypocrisy....

I won't be disappointed or surprised. You have demonstrated that you are in alignment with the elites, the establishment and the globalists. I question as to whether you are a conservative at all. You seem to be OK with one set of rules for the "elected rulers" and another set for the rest of us. If this is not the case, why is Hillary not rotting her fat money maker off in Leavenworth ? She is so guilty of so many crimes. Yet, she remains free and hardly under any investigation. We will just have to disagree with each other.

Not sure where you got that idea. Like I said to Evan, McCain was the problem with his campaign. He was a mean, nasty old curmudgeon and hardly bearable.

You have to wonder if Otto Warmbier would still be alive if Trump was President after seeing the news of 3 additional detainees being released. Obama sat on his hands and let an American get tortured and die....

Probably not. Getting prisoners released from NK is a fairly regular deal.
