Pleased to announce we are in the final state an agreement with the Huntsville Botanical Gardens to place Perry's weather station. As a part of the agreement, we will have routine check-ups at the station (i.e. check stability, clear debris from rain gauge, etc).

At this time we are seeking a few awesome volunteers in the Huntsville region, that would like to assist with this effort. You will be required to complete a Huntsville Botanical Gardens volunteer application. If you are interested let me know via PM and I'll shoot you the paperwork.

Going to do another scouting trip to take some measurements to get our rigging equipment ordered. If anyone is interested in going let me know.

Wes
Sounds great, Wes. Thanks for your perseverance.

From his friend Chuck: Hard to believe it’s been 2 yrs already (yesterday) . He loved his Dawg’s, anything weather related, (the more severe the better!) and Relay For Life. He participated in it for as long as he could. He fought the good fight until the very end. RIP Perry. Miss you buddy!

Talkweather misses our Perry! I still think of him and what he’d post during big weather events!!

I'll never forget the courage, humility, and faith that he displayed even while suffering immense physical (and often emotional) pain. Nor will I forget his overwhelming vulnerability and desire for love and friendship, or his zest for life.

It is still difficult for me to think of the evening I spent with him while he was in the nursing home. He was uncertain about whether or not he'd make it to Oregon to be with his sister and his other relatives there. That really weighed on him. At the same time, he was at peace, and was able to reflect back on his entire life with an openness and level of honesty that I've rarely seen.

Perry was a very intelligent guy who had suffered more than his fair share of disappointments in life. Yet, even in some of his toughest moments, he had a big heart and a desire to help others.

The weather wasn't his only passion, but I've never met anyone else with such an encyclopedic knowledge of weather history and events. I feel privileged to have known Perry, and I continue to be in awe of what so many people on this forum did to help him during his final battle against cancer, and the efforts to memorialize him. Perry was incredibly grateful for the support that so many people from this forum gave him during the final few years of his life.

Rest in peace, Perry.

He sure did! I love to rag Georgia fans, but I was always very careful joking with Perry about his Dawgs because he absolutely *loved* Georgia football. He was a very tender-hearted guy, but you better not mess with his Dawgs!

Thanks, Lori and Evan for remembering Perry. I loved his posts during severe events as well.
Time sure flies by.

Pleased to announce that the Perry Williams Memorial Weather Station is now up and running at the Huntsville Botanical Garden in Huntsville, AL. The HBG staff have been great to work with and have told me numerous times that they are excited to have the data being collected from inside the garden and look forward to using it daily.

You can view the data at https://perry.talkweather.com

There are a few chores to be finished up at the install site. I've already placed an order for another extension to our mast that will get us to 10 feet to deal with the trees nearby. HBG will be adding a plaque and we will also be painting the mast and adding fencing around the bottom to give it eye appeal.

The station is located at one of the highest points on the property that is actually within the garden area. If you have visited the garden during the Galaxy of Lights event at Christmas, this area is the last area you drive through before exiting the garden. They are currently hosting the Chinese Lantern Festival at the moment. I think Perry would appreciate the placement with the "wildlife".
