That's a shame for him and his family, as moving is always tough. I always speculated that he and James Spann weren't best buds at ABC-33/40 because Mark would sometimes present different forecast specifics than James would. Probably baseless on my part, but Jason Simpson always seemed more Team Spann when he came on board.

That’s a bummer. I really like Mark. Hope he has a soft landing.

Not sure what the issue was, if any but 6 stations now since early 1990's I think. May just boil down to ratings vs his pay with CBS but was seemingly an abrupt departure.

And yeah the Spann era ended kind of ugly to and he wound up reporting weather in Davenport Iowa LoL (also did weather for Rick and Bubba) not sure if he relocated there or not.

Wasn't he also a meterologist at WAFF 48 Huntsville at some point?

I'm pretty sure Mark Prater has never worked for WAFF. You're probably thinking of Jay Prater, who was chief meteorologist at WAFF several years ago.

Mark was in the hospital last week. He was posting pictures from his room at Grandview on FB. I hope that his health is OK. :(
