They look better to me than I expected them to, but how much of that is LSU and how much of that is this being a classic Richt egg-lay game.

I think this is more on Miami than LSU. Their offensive line is paltry and their QB so far only seems marginally better than what they had last year. Its going to take a convincing, non-sloppy W over Auburn for me to be sold on them.

Alabama and Georgia are head and shoulders above the rest of the league after week 1.
Auburn is a distant 3rd followed closely by Mississippi state, and we look either mediocre or unproven past those 4. Florida and LSU look improved, but Florida played nobody and I question the legitimacy of LSU's win as they were very sloppy all night long but Miami just happened to be sloppier.

I've never understood why Greg is so anti-Alabama (Maybe he and Saban had a rocky relationship or something when he was the QB), but I can't help but agree with him to an extent here. The qb battle is over and Tua needs to get all of the non-garbage time reps this weekend. Jalen will play for sure, but this battle is over and I think Saban is trying to keep this open to prevent Jalen transferring elsewhere.

He's trying to avoid a Barnett situation, but Saban is loyal to a fault. This is even moreso with Jalen...his incessant and over the top defense is truly bizarre. What is so bad about saying that "Tua gives us the best chance to win?"
Deionte Thompson is/was worlds better than Hootie Jones. Guess who rode the bench last season?

Yeah as out of line as Jalen's quotes at media day were, the last week or so does shine a little light on the situation. Saban doesn't handle these higher-profile position battles extremely well (Probably his only weakness as a head coach), and he's prone to saying things out of frustration or to avoid tipping his hand that can put the players in an awkward and uncomfortable spot like what happened Saturday. Do I like or agree with what Jalen said? No. But it has been documented in the past that he bobbles these QB situations a bit (Bateman-Coker before Ole Miss in 2015 and Barnett in 2016 coming to mind)

Per Saban, Tua is now the official starter. This charade has been one of the most head scratching periods in Saban’s tenure.

As a fan of an opponent, I've contemplated who I would prefer to start against us. I actually find it hard to come to a solid conclusion. Tua scares me more from a threat perspective, but he also gives me hope with his more reckless approach. Jalen is less threatening through the air, but he's also far less likely to lose a game. In the end, both scare the doo-doo out of me.
I'm curious to see how Tua performs when Bama encounters opponents that can pressure the QB. Jalen would always scamper to the sidelines for a 5-yard gain - will Tua do the same or will he heave up a jump ball? Ultimately, I think this season will very intriguing... Tua will definitely lead to more points on the board for Bama (although Jalen scored enough in all but 2 instances), but will he also lead to more points on the board for opponents?

The offensive line got off to a slow start against Louisvile, and we saw what Tua does then. He is definitely a bit reckless (The first pass to Jeudy, as highlight worthy as it was, was probably something Saban was NOT pleased about due to his recklessness and how he exposed himself to injury).
With that said, he's not only the best option, he's the only logical option. Jalen didn't make mistakes because he never did anything with the ball in the first place. Our entire playbook with him was either a QB Draw or a "look for Ridley 8 yards downfield and if he's not there take off" play. He had I think one or two good plays last year in which he went through his progressions after the first receiver wasn't there, and I commented last year every time the ball leaves his hand it looks like a lame duck. He was a stop-gap QB who could run better than most. Nothing more, nothing less.

And I really wish people would wake up and actually watch the LSU game. Everyone is hyping them up and they'll likely be a top-15 team this week. They aren't. At all. They look like the 6 or 7 win team everyone thought they were. Their QB had a completion % in the 40s, their offensive line is paltry, and their only impact player at the moment seems to once again be the RB. Their defense is good as always, but they are not a good football team and the Auburn game in two weeks is going to demonstrate that.

I legitmately still struggle to find 6 guaranteed wins on their schedule. They'll get the 3 OOC freebies (granted even that's not a guarantee after the Troy decable last year) and Arkansas is pathetic so that's a 5th win there. But other than that.. I don't know. Ole Miss looks pretty good, Mississippi State looks like they are going to pick up where they left off last year even with a new coach, Florida looks like they are actually competent on offense again, Texas A&M has a coach who can develop talent for once, and Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia are self explanatory. I don't know if they'll get past 6-7 wins based on schedule alone.

I've said in the past Tua is a bit of a Brett Favre-like gunslinger, which will get you into trouble at times, but that first TD pass to Jeudy was far from being reckless, despite Fowler calling it a risky throw. It is the definition of throwing your guy open.

Get Mac Jones comfortable with the offense and put him in a position to be prepared to compete with Taulia and Paul Tyson in what will be a very compelling 3-way QB battle once Tua most likely turns pro after his junior year, and give Jalen two years of eligibility remaining for when he transfers. Him redshirting, sitting out, and getting away from the program is probably the best ending for all parties involved. This whole situation has frankly just turned into a debacle ever since fall camp started in August.

Who knows. Granted he can play in 2 more games without losing the redshirt.
I'd be surprised to see him next week since we're opening SEC play against Ole Miss who has an offense to be a real pain in our behind for at least a half if not longer. Granted their defense can't stop a wet paper bag.

Also, I’ve never heard Bryant Denny boo a player in all my years of attending games there. We did do, very loudly, after that second extra point went off the upright.
I just cannot take another kicking debacle. My heart was nearly ripped out after Pappanastos missed the game winner in the natty in the end zone I was sitting in.

It was clear as daylight on TV as well. Missing 3 PATs in a row (+2 in a row in one game) is just abysmal. Luckily Joseph Bulovas had a good game and he's got a cannon for a leg so I would expect him to be the kicker going forward.
We even hired the ST coordinator from A&M who was one of the best in the country. I'm not sure what is going on with that.
