FWIW... I was talking to a Red Elephant Club member at our event at church last Saturday and he had got to go to a practice the week before. I asked him if he thought Tua would start and he said from what he saw, Jalen would be the starter based on his performance in that practice. I said that was a surprise because all I had read was how Tua had distanced himself from Hurts in practice but he said in the one he saw Jalen definitely performed better.
That is the complete opposite of what I heard. He had a couple good deep passes and a miracle catch by Waddle. Given the talent at WR, I could probably lob a couple passes up and they'd come down with it.

Anyone who doesn't acknowledge who the better QB is at this point is absolutely trolling.

It was his opinion from just watching one practice so I don't think he was trolling me. I will predict Saban will start Hurts against Louisville... I think it's the best option from a public perspective 26-2 vs. on very good half of football in the most important game of the year. If Hurts fails he brings in Tua and can say "Jalen I gave you one more chance to prove yourself and you didn't come through"... if he starts Tua and if Tua stunk it up and then brought Hurts in, I think Hurts confidence would have been shaken from not starting and it's more likely he would stink it up too. By the time the TAMU game rolls around, the starter may be different

Today is the final day until December without college football on TV every Saturday.

Let's take one final moment to remember the last play of last season, which as we all know by now is up there with 4th and 5 as one of the greatest conclusions to a national championship game ever..

In the Chic Fil A Kickoff Classic, Auburn offense has come out swinging in the first quarter. However, Malzhan decided to dial up his trick 2 point plays when it was unnecessary. I wish he would cut those type of plays out.

So far, the Auburn vs Washington game has been a defensive battle in the first half. Auburn has been great running the ball until they get to the end zone. The second half looks like it will be won through the air.

That game is sloppy. Mental errors on both sides.

I'm actually somewhat hoping Auburn wins though. Washington fans were insufferable during the Peach Bowl back in 2016 and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Tua warming up with the 1's and Jalen with the 2's in pre-game warmups.. unless Saban is trying to be deceptive I think we know who's going to be first out

Our offense is just riduclious so far tonight.

This is an unreal collection of talent. Wow. We may even be going with more of an air-raid style this season based on how many passes we've thrown.

First half thoughts: Tua is something special. He made some incredible throws. With that said, he plays very risky still and I'm worried about how injury prone he is with that big hit early.

If this first half doesn’t seal the deal, I don’t know what ever will.

I think its over. Tua's played like 85% of the snaps tonight and he got the second half start. Saban seemed to indicate that it was over in his halftime interview as well when he said that they gave Jalen his fair share of opportunites as well.

One player that nobody is talking about after last night whom they should be talking about is Devonta Smith. He was our best looking WR out there, with good hands and absolutely beautiful route-running. He had the excellent adjustment to make the catch on a poorly thrown ball from Jalen down the sideline, and another almost-catch from him in which Jalen threw it to him in triple coverage and he nearly got decapitated by the linebacker. Held onto the ball much better than 99% of WRs in that situation would, even if it wasn't completed. Excellent game from him.

There were many players last night who had breakout games. Deionte Thompson, Quinnen Williams, and Jaylen Waddle just to name a few.

Oh, and how about the 6 TOTAL rushing yards Louisville had.

Only complaint, the lack of discipline that lead to busted assignments (the only big yards Louisville had) and penalties. 111 yards is unlike a Nick Saban coached team.

turns out they were alternating warm ups.

Regardless, the only reason Bama didn't hang 70 on Louisville last night is because they left 4 points on the field with the FG kicker and Tua sat out several drives.

The fact that we put up 50 on them and Tua putting up the numbers that he did with less than a full half of action is telling. If our defense is even so much as adequate this year we will have the offensive firepower to outscore anybody. With that said, Ole Miss is in two weeks and has the firepower to keep pace with us for at least a half or so if not longer if our secondary has some growing pains, so we may need that offense sooner rather than later. I'm not buying this whole easy schedule hype.

And on the other side of the state, Auburn isn't competing for a divisional title if their body of work against Washington is indicative of the entire season. That was a mess of a game from them and I still think Stidham may be rather overrated.. he hasn't had to beat a team with his arm yet because of Auburn's stable of running backs last year, and that's going to change this season..

I swung and missed. I really thought Saban would start Hurts for the reasons I mentioned. I had no idea how the performances in fall camp had been going outside of what that guy told me and what I've read by others who saw it differently in other practices. I figured it was close and that Tua might have a slight edge but even if he did, I thought he (Saban) would go ahead and start Hurts. Tua has proven to me it's not as close as I thought and that the offense performs much better with him at QB. I feel bad for Hurts because he has gone from SEC Offensive POY his freshman year under Kiffin to someone who looks lost out there.

LSU may trick us into thinking they're a good team with this blowout of Miami.. but their heavy reliance on penalties and overall sloppy play (especially on the offensive line) suggests they're nowhere near as good as the score at halftime is suggesting.
