Bama with a blowout win of Ole Miss yesterday, leading by as much as 30 in the second half. Other than the late collapse against Texas A&M, this team has been playing good basketball as of late and seems to be improving. The light appears to have come on for Petty, who's been a completely different player the last two games.

Auburn goes down again .... to South Carolina....
We're really struggling without Wiley. Two games in a row that points in the paint have killed us. We're really missing his rim protection. We're already teetering on the brink of being out of the conference title race in January, which is frustrating.

Welp, Bama lost a close on at Baylor today. Bama didn't play great, and you generally have to be 10 points better on the road or you won't win. Pretty much what happened today.

Would've been a good road win for the resume, but doesn't really hurt much. Need to keep winning at home and steal a road game or two.

It kind of sucks for the SEC that three of the top six teams in the league aren't playing in the SEC-Big XII challenge. It would be nice to have Auburn, LSU, and MSU in there instead of A&M, Georgia, and Vandy.

Interesting how big a jump Bama's offense has made this season in offensive efficiency. Per KenPom's adjust offensive numbers,

2015-2016: 164
2016-2017: 152
2017-2018: 106
2018-2019: 39

I believe last night's game is a good example. Against #22 Mississippi State, Bama went 1-15 from 3 and still scored 83 points.

There's obviously been some frustrating losses, but this team has a pretty high ceiling.

Georgia State and aTm are the two that really stick out. 13-7 should easily be 15-5. The Northeastern loss is frustrating but not a killer, and UCF is decent at home. The LSU loss angers me simply because I do not like their coach.

GSU and A&M really hurt, for sure. Erase those two losses and and Bama's resume is quite strong at the moment.

The Northeastern loss was a good learning moment, IMO. Early season against a veteran small school that plays good team ball. They just ate Bama up that day. The GSU/A&M games were just mental lapses and let two inferior teams come back and steal a win.

Bama's really dominated in the paint the last couple games and had really good ball movement. If they can keep that up, and hit a handful out outside shots (unlike last night), they can get a W against anybody in the league. But as the A&M game shows, take a night off, and they can lose to anybody in the league too.

Saturday's game should be interesting. Bama is an awful matchup for AU, especially with Wiley out, but it is tough to get a road win, especially at your rival's place.

That was a flat out beatdown. LOL...28 points at the half is inexcusable.

Alabama shot 45% in the first half, but if you turn it over 10 times and give up 18 points off those turnovers in one half, you're gonna get buried.

Well, I’ll reserve my comments until I see how the team responds the next few games, but there’s a difference in losing, and losing with terrible effort.

And that’s two straight games that the team looked like it was a burden to them that they even had to show up to play.

The problem is this was a game where they should have responded. They were spanked on the road by Mississippi State and came home to play a bad Florida team. They should have won this game by double digits.

Well that loss was probably the final nail in the coffin to any hope of a tourney birth unless we somehow finish out undefeated AND make a deep SEC tourney run. Neither of which look likely or even plausible. At all.

Looks like this may have finally been the game that turned the fanbase from a fairly 50/50 split on Avery to pretty much everyone turning on him now.

He needs to go and this is going to be a big decision for Greg Byrne. Firing the face of our second biggest athletic program isn't easy, but we have the resources to consistently be doing significantly better in basketball than we currently are.

I think Coach Johnson leaves before he gets fired.
