Out with the flu. I have received a flu shot every year since I was a toddler. My first time ever getting it was this year.

This is rough. Like....I haven't felt like this ever....

The flu vaccine unfortunately was a huge miss this season. Huntsville has seen substantially more positive flu test vs last year, and people with COPD & Congestive Heart Failure who get the flu + pulmonary edema or pneumonia had totally filled the ICUs at all the hospitals in the area. Some people have been held in the ER for over 30 hours intubated and on a ventilator waiting for a room to open upstairs. The administrators have been offering an extra $10/hr to anyone who works an 8 or 12 hr shift in the ER to help out. There's chairs and beds in every hallway for patients because there's no rooms, over 20+people in the lobby some waiting over 12 hours just to be seen by a doctor. It's been an awful season to say the least.

Has it been primarily the H3N2 strain that has been causing all the problems up there?

The H3N2 has been the primary culprit in the most severe cases (those requiring intubation &/or becoming septic), but there's been a substantial amount of both influenza subtype A (like H3N2) and subtype B. Initially B was more common but over the past couple weeks we've been seeing more A.

Update....Tamiflu has worked wonders. As well as sleeping for 15 hours. Still a scratchy throat and coughing, but the headache, aches, and fever is gone. I don't think I had the severe strain (I'd hate to see how bad that would've been).

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Tamiful is amazing stuff for sure.

Quite a colossal screw up by the Hawaii EMA. They sent out an emergency alert by mistake saying a ballistic missile was inbound and that this was not a drill.

Glad you're feeling better. The flu is rough stuff. Mucinex (guaifenesin) always does a great job thinning my mucus/sinus drainage and prevents/helps sore throat.

When you're at Walgreens and this guy pulls up in this really fancy sports car and gets out wearing a gold chain and Yeezys and comes up to you saying "I'm from Decatur and I'm trying to get to Crestwood to see my Aunt because the pacemaker in her neck is cut off and she's dying.. but can you spare me some money.. I don't have enough gas to get there" and he quite frankly sounds like he's reading off of a script.. not to mention there's no way he managed to accidentally wind up in that part of town when trying to get to Crestwood from Decatur.

How can high schoolers be dumb enough to eat Tide Pods? I thought parents taught their kids not to eat detergent. Then again, back in the day, parents washed their kid’s mouth out with soap for using dirty language.

There are some things that kids shouldn't have to be taught by anybody.. not eating laundry detergent seems like one of them..

Going to the Oklahoma/Bama basketball game in a bit. I'm sure it'll be nothing but exasperation and disappointment for a sell out crowd.

#BuckleUp because Bama basketball is crashing!

This team is showing flashes of being a very solid squad. It just hasn't been able to do it away from Coleman.

Big win today against Oklahoma. Need a few more SEC wins and this team will be in the NCAAT.
