Taken not too far from my parents. The windows were bowing in some of the higher gusts (which they estimated was 90-100 mph).

Rough night in Mobile (also why is that tractor-trailer driving around in the background???)

Yeah, no reason for a tractor-trailer to be out in that. It's not like they didn't have ample warning, either. Really reckless decision by either the driver or their management company. This is how people die unnecessarily in these things.

I would say based on current radar and NAM forecast my backyard is going to get pounded.

At midnight the eye of Zeta is centered around Demopolis. Max wind reported at 75 mph with gusts to 105 mph. That is very concerning, if true. That area is so heavily wooded.

BMX radar shows over 120mph at 2500-3000 feet.

It seems to be moving out a bit faster than the models predicted. That will be good for Atlanta, we should escape the worst of it. I know there's lots of power outages, but so far that seems to be the worst.

Looks like the latest model guidance for Atlanta still has the heaviest winds coming in south of the storm right behind the rain. We aren't out of the woods yet, but it looks like rain totals will be lower than initially forecasted.

Some parts of Georgia and North Carolina have gotten some pretty substantial wind damage and a lot of people have lost power. Less of that up here but there are a lot of flood warnings out.

Anybody know when these winds might calm down a bit in Central AL?
At 8 pm in central Alabama (Thursday 10/29) the wind is blowing steadily, gusting to15-20 mph in the Montgomery area. Are these winds associated with the front coming through? They can’t be related to Zeta as she/it is long gone.

That's correct, they're primarily related to the cold front.
