I knew eventually this day would come but I NEVER thought it would be this team to be on the receiving end of the first utter humiliation of a Saban coached team. There's gonna be some tough questions to answer this offseason

Congrats to Clemson on playing a great game, but this better light a fire in the entire football department at Alabama. This has been absolutely embarrassing.

Next year will be very telling to see if this is a bump in the road or if the end of Saban's dynasty may indeed be in sight. This is the first game we've ever looked utterly outmanned.

I think one of our biggest problems is our freakishly high staff turnover rate. It surely has hurt us in recruiting and hurt us in player development.

Boy, this hurt. The defense...there is just no depth there. Outside of Quinnen Williams and Anfernee Jennings, name someone who made plays yesterday? The offense...what was that abomination with 1st down and redzone play calls. We were running it all over their vaunted D-line. Tua...he was a liability last night, not that I think we had a better option. As a team, we have the talent. I think this loss is squarely on the coaching.

Give props to Clemson. They went blow for blow with us and won handily. Dabo does an amazing job with the players he has. The fact he could hang onto players and coaching staff says a lot about him. There is no doubt Dabo is an elite coach.

My thoughts on the game last night...
Our defense has weaknesses against the pass that are exposed by teams with skilled and mobile QBs and great Off lines. This started showing itself at the beginning of the 2nd Q of the Oklahoma game and continued last night. Since OU's first TD early in the 2nd Q... we have been outscored 78-33 in the last 6.75 quarters of football we have played.

We lost 3rd (and 4th downs) on both sides of the ball. Clem was 10-15 on 3rd downs.. we were 4-13. Clem was 1-1 on 4th downs... we were 3-6. Clem was clutch when the pressure was on. We were fail.

Bama players don't seem to be as disciplined and focused as they once were under Saban. Stupid penalties and missed assignments are too prevalent.

Kicking game.... need I say more?

We're flat out a more talented team than Clemson. That part is obvious to me. Dabo Swinney is doing an A+ job seeing how he's getting more with less. He has plenty of elite players but his 2 deep isnt full of blue choppers like ours is. Hunter Renfrow would have never seen the field at Alabama and he's holding school records at Clemson.

What really is p*ssing me off this morning is Lupoi. I'm starting to think this may be Saban's first real whiff on a coordinator hire. No adjustments at all to stop Lawrence or really anyone I've seen this year. He ran the same defense all year long and we only stopped Georgia because our players on that side stepped up. No adjustments were made whatsoever in any game I've seen. I know he's young and brand new but I better see more out of him next year or I'll be jumping on the get him out train real quick.

Major Applewhite has something to say about title of worst coordinator under Saban.

But I have to agree. Lupoi coached up some big LBs but I’m not sure he’s cut out to coach a whole defense. Problem is, he is our best recruiter by a long shot. If we lose/fire him, that hurts.

I think it's easier to develop a recruiter than it is to change somebody's X's and O's mindset. Football is a lot like chess - you've either got that switch in your brain that can see the flow of a play before it even happens or you don't, and that's something that seems like it can either come naturally or it can't.

Recruiting on the other hand is simply learning to be a salesman. You can go to college and get a degree in sales, or even in some companies start straight out of high school and work your way up while you learn the tools of the trade. Losing Lupoi would hurt recruiting, but IMHO it would be easier to train a bring young X's and O's coach to be a good recruiter than a good recruiter to be an X's and O's coach.

On that mantra however, I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he's still quite young and needing to figure out how to mesh all the moving pieces together. He has the intensity on the practice field for sure. Just needs to figure out how to translate that onto the sideline.

Major staff shake up for the Crimson Tide football team. Not done yet I suspect. I like it.

I was very surprised to see Enos leave. Seems like Alabama to Miami would be a demotion unless Saban decided to show him the door. I'm beginning to hear rumblings that Saban is very displeased with our offensive scheme this year and that Tua's playmaking ability masked a lot of inefficiencies until Clemson.
