January 30th-February 1st Winter Storm potential

I'm also interested in snow falling around Tampa Bay. They haven't had sleet, freezing rain &/ snow since 09 Jan 2010. That depended on which part of TB you were in. Widespread snow flurries haven't occurred since Dec 89, though some fell north of town in 96. So I'm interested in here in Hoover, AL & where my heart still lives, Tampa Bay, FL. TB/C. FL won't get their reports until late tomorrow night & early Sunday am though.

Are those returns in S central TN / N MS making the ground at all?

I expect mostly not, no - you'll notice around most of the radar sites is just the normal ground clutter, and the returns are all further away, where the radar beam is higher.

Mid level moisture is definitely rolling in though, from the north.

Lines up pretty well with the returns you see on radar.
Not sure if it ever gets heavy enough to do much but hang around up there, but fingers crossed.

I'm really surprised by the lack of Wind Advisories especially for areas that still have ice on trees/powerlines.

Latest track has moved the low back SW. Hopefully that helps. I'd like to get enough for Jeffco to be the SW corner for the Winter Weather Advisory.

Also of significant importance, last Sunday temps in Tampa Bay were in the mid-80sF/~30C. It just so happens that the NHL will hold its 2026 Winter Classic at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, which looks likely to be the coldest weekend day since January 2010. Temps will run 45-48F/7.5-9C, with winds of 10-20 mph/15-30 kmph. There were concerns about keeping the ice cold, since ideally surroundings require temps be at or below 50F/10C. But that WILL NOT be a problem for Tampa Bay this Sunday! Since the Maple Leafs aren't playing, go Bolts!

Snow can be seen on the Birmingham and Clanton ALDOT cameras.

It's hard to tell from the camera, but it looks like there are some minor accumulations in Arab.

Edit: No accumulations in Arab.
