Good catch. Quick question - and pardon my ignorance -what is the difference between this home with a basement (ignoring the possible CMU foundation) and some of the homes in Parkersburg that had basements?

Depends on which ones. There were a lot of homes in Parkersburg with construction very similar to the above house and wouldn’t be rated EF5 today.

The ones near the golf course still would be EF5 candidates though. Poured concrete and total subfloor loss there, with cracking and warping of the stemwalls. Insane stuff.

Incredible Phenomena Will Occur! That is some of the most intense home damage I have ever seen. I would say it was at least a fair bit stronger than the Greensburg tornado.
