25th Amendment time. Get Pence sworn in ASAP. The little boy can go practice his useless threats in the mirror at Mar-e-Lago.

DOW is cratering after Trump baited Kim with a pointless threat.

DOW closed 33 points lower. Once again, we will agree to disagree.

And that's why Trump's threat was a serious strategic error. NK just called his bluff. Threatened to strike around/at Guam. Now Trump has to use force or walk back his threat and look weak.

What will Trump do? He was clear that if NK threatened us again (which they just did directly and clearly), he would bring them fire and fury. Either he enforces his own red line, or he has shown that he will back down and cave. This is why you don't issue threats off the cuff.

Assuming Mattis/McMaster and others will now have to back down Trump's words and try to salvage this huge loss of face. Don't think China isn't paying attention, and losing face to them is the absolute worst and weakest thing a leader can do.

NK has been threatening us (U.S.) for decades. Have they followed through ?

EXACTLY. So why did Trump place the credibility of his administration on a red line of: "if they *threaten*us again they will experience fire & fury like the world has never seen."

Anyone, and I mean anyone, with a pulse and brain working at 10% capacity knew they'd immediately threaten us again. I've watched them do it for 25+ years, and this is their shtick. So why say if they issue another threat you are essentially going to retaliate with extreme military force and then sit on your thumbs and back down?

This is the problem with Trump, and this is why our allies and enemies alike think he's a joke. He makes these threats or insane statements then backs down without any follow up. That tells our allies that they can't rely on us, and it tells our enemies that they need not fear consequences from Trump.

Do you think it was smart, Matt? Has he backed up his threat/promise to North Korea? They responded to his statement in around 1-1.5 hours and MOCKED him saying well, we are thinking about attacking Guam with missiles. We are even planning it.

It took NK 1.5 hours or less to cross Trump's red line.

Here is Trump's response:

He is seriously weaker than Jimmy Carter. He made one of the most serious threats our country has made in decades, and it became clear it was an empty threat within just a few hours. He completely backed down.

Since he has lost face with NK and China (even more important), look for NK testing to accelerate and become more frequent. Also, look for China to test us mightily in the South China Sea.

We already know Russia has been having their way with us (expelled 700 diplomats and seized several US properties and nary a single response from Trump), and suffered no serious consequences for their behavior during the election, or even related to Crimea/Ukraine except for what Congress did.

Trump is going to go down as a historically weak and feckless President. Infinitely weaker than Obama, and he'll have way less success legislatively than Obama did. Trump still can't point to any significant legislation he's been part of. Almost unheard of for a President that's been in office almost 8 months...unless they were sick and died before the 8 months ended.

Trump is vacationing at his golf club because he doesn't have the stamina to be President. Everything he said about Hillary was a projection of his own flaws and inadequacy. Yesterday, at 5pm, the President's schedule showed not a single public appearance for today. The other day when it rained at his golf course and he couldn't play, he literally stayed inside and watched TV all day. The media was tracking his tweets as he watched Fox News show after Fox News show.

If you want to continue to deny the reality that Trump is a complete failure, one of the weakest Presidents we've ever had, and wholly incompetent then that's your right. But our enemies live in reality, and they've been profiling and testing Trump since the Primary. If you don't think they're taking advantage of his stunningly public flaws and character defects then you are just naive.

Yet again Trump has made a significant mistake. Yet again you either say it is 99th dimensional chess or blow it off as being nothing or too hyped by the media. The most significant mistake Trump supporters are making is thinking that NOT criticizing Trump is helping his Presidency. The opposite is true. With completely subservient and blind supporters, there's no motivation for Trump to do better as he blames the media for the critical comments made by those that never supported him.

2 questions concerning military action w NK.

News is talking about strikes w B1 bombers.. how would they elude an extensive NK SAM air defense system? Seems like B2s stealth capability would be a better choice.

If NK were to launch missiles at Guam, what are the chances they will actually hit the island? Launching a rocket with that range I can see but do they have the GN&C capability to hit their target at that range?

I'll just put this here:

BEIJING (Reuters) - If North Korea launches an attack that threatens the United States then China should stay neutral, but if the United States attacks first and tries to overthrow North Korea's government China will stop them, a Chinese state-run newspaper said on Friday.

Manafort has hired an attorney that specializes in defending money launderers. I told you Trump was basically a Russian mobster. The coming months will tell if I'm correct.

I'm going to say something because I'm tired of one side pointing fingers at the other. At this point, both sides have lost credibility. Here are some harsh truths.

When you engage in identity politics - when you are constantly pitting one group against another - telling this group that that group is to blame for their lot in life you get these factions of the populace to rear their heads and then they clash. The only thing surprising about what's happening in this country is that it hasn't happened sooner. Under Obama, who was notorious for divisive speech, but was just a better actor who said prettier words while he told black America all their woes stem from racism of the white man, he got a pass from the media time and time again. Why? Because criticizing Obama meant you only had a problem with him because he's black. He didn't bring this country together. And let's remember how he was always so quick to cast blame on police before knowing any of the facts and ONLY when there was a black suspect. Under his rule we got BLM because he emboldened them. He also invited BLM to the WH let's not forget. It's not surprising that white supremacist would feel emboldened to rear their ugly heads now. The fact that Trump came out on Saturday with neutered words denouncing those responsible by not calling them by name is just more of the same crap we got under Obama. But now it's a problem, right? No. It's been a problem. The left's MO is to play identity politics. Blacks against whites, gays against straights, Christians against atheists, so on and so on. We are forever put into boxes and told we have to behave accordingly. It's disgusting what the political class in this country is doing to us. Disgusting. Trump rose to power due to this kind of identity politics over the last eight years. That's just a fact. Talk to any Trump supporter and listen to them. They got tired of being kicked in the teeth time and time again. But that is exactly why I said Trump is not the answer. He'll just be more of the same divisiveness we've had - just without the lipstick. The pendulum always swings too far in one direction. And I'm sure we'll keep repeating our mistakes over and over again because people never learn from them.

We need conversion of the heart in this country. We need to stop looking at people's skin color and deciding their worth. We need to stop elevating people to leadership roles who stands to gain on 'dividing and conquering'. This party is for this group of people and that party is for that group of people. I'm sick of it. Sick.Of.It. We're going backwards. But all I see are people blinded by politics. Too many people view the world through the prism of a political party. And it's all dangerous rhetoric. We're being torn apart at the seams. Obama, the first black man elected to the presidency didn't stop the division - because he spent eight years stoking the flames. And out of the flames we got Trump. This is what happens when a.) people put their hopes and faith in a man. b.) people elect people to office for all the wrong reasons. These last 3 election cycles have been emotionally driven and emotionally centered. People are voting with their emotions, letting their anger fuel them and make their decisions. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Having said that, I am glad that Trump called out the groups responsible for what happened over the weekend by name today. I suppose someone told him what he should have already known, but whatever. At least he said it. I think that's more than Obama ever gave us when acts of violence sprung up. Instead, the whole country got to be lectured on how racist we all are. Every single time. It was insulting to be lectured as if I had something to do with it, but because he said it with a smile and wink it was okay. Well it wasn't.

Identity politics, people. It's costing us too much. That's where this is coming from and nothing good can come from it. We need to elect people who care more about you and me than they do their egos, stoking flames, and winning political points. In the meantime, smile at a stranger in the checkout line. Offer to hold the door open for someone. Pay for someone's coffee. Bring a box of doughnuts to your co-workers. Be kind. Kindness doesn't cost a thing. No, it won't solve the world's problems, but you're not responsible for the world. You're just responsible for yourself.
