This article from WaPo is unbelievable. Trump and his family will cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars because of their lavish lifestyles at Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower. On top of that, Trump is profiting on Mar-a-Lago because he can charge people more to visit now that he's the Prez and they're fawning over him. Security peeps may rent space in Trump Tower, which Trump profits from. How is this legal, and how is this our reality? Where are all the complaints from people who bellyached every time Obama teed up on the golf course?

Of course, I'm sure this cost information is true, but the article is fake news. Because it's mainstream media. We can't believe it unless we see it in Infowars.

Greatest ever! Good thing Rush isn't fake news. No bias there.

The pro-trump subreddit is starting to look a lot like BuzzFeed, sensational titles "THEY'RE DOWNVOTING THIS TO OBLIVION:" and extreme denial going on. Anti-Trump subreddit frequenting the front page much more often.

(OFF-MIKE) said today that you have big intellectual margins (inaudible) 300 or more (ph), or 350 (ph) electoral (ph) votes

    President Obama about 365 (OFF-MIKE)

    (CROSSTALK) TRUMP: Yeah

(13:28:09) QUESTION: Obama (OFF-MIKE) 426 on (OFF-MIKE). So why should Americans..

(13:28:13 ) (CROSSTALK) TRUMP: ...I'm skipping that information, I don't know, I was just given (ph) we had a very, very big margin

(13:28:17) QUESTION: (OFF-MIKE) why should Americans trust you (OFF-MIKE) the information (OFF-MIKE)?

(13:28:24) TRUMP: Well, I don't know, I was given that information. I was given -- I actually, I've seen that information around. But it was a very substantial victory, do you agree with that? OK thank you, that's..

This was my favorite part. A reporter asked trump why he accuses the media of fake news when he incorrectly talks about having the biggest electoral margin since ronald reagan. Who is the one spouting incorrect "facts"?

It won't matter to his supporters. Recite after me. I believe in Trump the Leader all Orangey, Saver of Whiteys and Obsolete Jobs... And in Steve Bannon our Dark Overlord... Who was conceived by Breitbart News, suffered under fake newsery, was ridiculed, lampooned, and harried. On November 8th he rose from the dead and ascended to the Presidency, and sitteth at the right hand of Bannon the gray and greasy. From thence he shall come to make us all dead....

It's quite telling how the proponents of the Trump Presidency have fallen silent in this thread.

Oh, they know. But, when you put a LOT of faith in someone and tie yourself to their success it is really difficult to make it past the first stage (Denial) in the Kübler-Ross model of grief. You are desperately seeking contradictory evidence, and trying to deny what is actually happening.

Hence the need to label critical stories "fake news," deny that Trump's approval rating is sub-40, and absolutely refusing to see what Trump has done/is doing is the exact behavior they denigrated Obama for. It's why all of a sudden it is OK to vacation again as President and play golf. OK again to friviously waste taxpayer dollars on asinine monarchial style behavior (Barron REALLY couldn't goto a private school in DC? How many working and middle class parents have to move their children to a new school and don't have choice?).

Maintaining three separate residences 24/7 which require heavy Secret Service, Federal, State, and Local law enforcement and an expensive private security apparatus is OK. But taking your kids on a trip? You are Marie Antoinette!!!

Biden mentions that his nuclear football carrier is there? He's a clown who violates national security. Trump and his team allow the football carrier to be photographed and identified? FAKE NEWS.

Executive Orders are an overreach when Obama delayed Obamacare implementation? Oh, that's unconstitutional and massive overreach by the Executive. When Trump signs an EO to obstruct and delay Obamacare... FAKE NEWS. IT'S NOT THE SAME THING. DENY DENY DENY. If it fits my political beliefs why it's OK.

I went through it after realizing Rubio wasn't really that much different than any other politico, and that Party was more important than Country for him and many others.

Shame the old forum is gone. Would have been amazing to be able to quote old posts criticizing Obama for similar things, and in this case something actually much less egregious. Remember how Michelle was Marie Antoinette for taking her kids on several vacations? Go look at old articles about how much that cost and compare it to what having three residences costs. And that's just the unclassified costs. The SAM batteries, fighters on alert ready to be scrambled, and the airspace restrictions are HUGE costs that are classified. Not to mention the military C&C needs for each location, the need of a SCIF, etc.

Remember how the Obamas were hypocrites for spending money on private school instead of sending their kids to public school? What's more expensive? 2 days of security for the Trumps' New York City penthouse or a year at Sidwell Friends?

    The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.

One last one. Remember Obama and the permanent campaign? How evil that was? Guess who has a campaign rally tomorrow?

You mean the same person that repeatedly brought up Hillary Clinton in his most recent press conference?

Yep. Same person who calls the media the enemy of the American People. Just like Mao Zedong did. Just like how Hitler called Jews the enemy of the German people. It is authoritarian propaganda meant to destroy institutions because they pose a threat to state control/influence.

What Trump doesn't realize is that continuing to go after Hillary and the media, instead of doing his job, means that ordinary Americans will start to find those people and institutions more sympathetic. He is fighting numerous battles on numerous fronts. He is quickly approaching the point that only the true-believers of his base will give him the benefit of the doubt or support. Hence his campaign rally, which he will claim the media didn't cover properly.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone if there is violence associated with his rally, and he uses that to further attack the media and those in opposition to his policies and actions. By painting himself into a corner, and being such an extreme narcissist, he's setting himself up to need a war or terror attack to burnish his popularity and soothe his ego.

Students of history have seen this story play out previously. The end is seldom a good one. Let's hope he is stopped before he goes too far. I do have faith in the American people. I have much less faith in the GOP or Democrats, but I do believe he doesn't have much hard support in Congress. He is seen as a useful idiot to them to help get desired agendas and laws passed and signed.

It hasn't even been a month and he is on a razor's edge. It won't take much to create turmoil and a political crisis like most of us have never witnessed in our lifetimes.

I said this previously, and I will reiterate it here again. Trump is really more like Hugo Chavez than anyone else. The thin-skin. War with the media and established political class. Insistence only HE can fix what is wrong. Ability to blame any mistake or error on the media reporting it or the opposition, and the extreme personal narcissism that filters over into a cult of personality among his supporters. It was never we support Socialism or a new way -- it was always we support Chavez. Seems the best majority of Trump supporters feel the same way.

Like you, I also liked numerous things Trump said he'd support and actions he'd take... But I never supported him because I didn't trust him; I thought he was a con man of sorts, a liar, and good at deception. Because of those traits, I could then surmise his promises and his platform was unreliable.

Please don't back down from the idea that perhaps his character, his deception, nullifies what he says he stands for. Even if you agree with what he says, how can you trust it?

As for your concern about nuclear strikes from Russia, that's a bit extreme. Let's keep it light. Trump, in my opinion, cannot be trusted. As someone who blatantly lies to Americans, failed to drain the swamp, brings his rich corporate buddies into high level gov. positions, and is trying to harass the media, turn Americans against the media because they're doing their job of investigating the administration and asking questions and reporting findings to the citizens of this country - that person is disgraceful and I'm somber to the fact that they are my president.
Media has it's biases, everyone knows them. Fox is conservative, MSNBC is liberal, CNN leans left and is fairly moderate. I'll be the first to lambast fox, as others will do the same for MSNBC and others for left or right leaning biased organizations. But what the media is doing now is their actual purpose, and they are in fairly good agreement that things have run amuck.

Agree 100% percent! I had hoped that Trump would become more Presidential after being inaugurated but sadly it seems he's become less. Nitpicking with reporters, calling them and their network names; sounding like a petulant, whiney child instead of a statesman is so dissapointing. Unless Trump changes his attitude, the cries and demands for his impeachment will only grow louder (and danger of violence/ assassination, etc rise)

So... all that $$$ for the NYC Penthouse, Mar-a-Lago, and the Trump kids' business trips, but need to cut PBS/NPR. Why doesn't Trump reimburse the government for some of his costs? He already doubled Mar-a-Lago fees for members after he joined.

There has never been 4 children requiring SS protection traveling abroad so frequently. There's no precedent. But it is going to cost millions of dollars. Why should Conservatives support covering all of the expense when the Trumps could at least pay for some of it on their own?
