Would NY getting snow cover keep severe wx possiblities down for Atlanta and places to the northeast if a wedge were to develop?

Pattern shift next week. Severe weather more likely with it than the pattern we are in now.
Yeah the end of March and into April look active per long term models and analogs. TNI is raging positive and a declining AAM suggest things will be getting active head. A lot of the storm track was north of Dixie Alley in Feb and early March. This suppression pattern likely helped shift it further south....

Well, this is just peachy. Environment Canada is forecasting up to 25 centimetres / 10 inches of snow for my area by tomorrow morning with gusts of 60 kph / 37 mph. Delightful. At least the risk of freezing rain is low...conditions out there on the roads are bad enough as it is.

What a awesome treat!!

Until you have to shovel it! :D

I took that picture about four or five hours ago, and we've picked up another ~6-7" since then. Up over 30" in all now, though it's starting to get windy and it's trickier to get a good measure. It's pretty ridiculous, though. By the time I got done shoveling a path to my neighbor's house, the snow piles were damn near shoulder-high.

That is really nice. We are just wet and cold here. Supposed to drop into the 20s tonight.

2 months ago I'd say I am jealous... But at this point and reading your post of 30".. I will have to pass!! That would shut Atlanta down for 2 weeks!! Stay safe and warm its going to be a while my friend.

Ha, the snow is so deep now that I've been having to get a shovel full, lift it almost up over my head and carry it off, one by one. There's just nowhere to go with all of it. I've honestly never seen anything like it. I haven't measured since we hit 30" but it's still been snowing probably 1-2" per hour. It's finally starting to wind down a bit, but still light/occasionally moderate snow and now the wind's picking up. We've gotta be pretty close to 3' in total by now.

We got a couple of inches of snow plus about a quarter inch of ice here (just outside the beltway and just west of 295).

That is a treacherous combination.
Blowing snow always adds to the fun. Very fine, light snow plus 54 kph / 33 mph winds = complete white out. I just about rammed into a street light on my way home from school today because visibility on the roads was practically zero, and I couldn't slow down because there was another driver about 10 inches behind me. I'm amazed there have been almost no weather-related accidents reported in my area this week.

Yeah, it wasn't great. Thankfully I was able to work from home. A lot of the ice is unfortunately still there, though, so walking on the sidewalk is pretty dicey. The layer of snow that's frozen solid on top is kinda neat though.

8/23 here today (yesterday). Winds gusting to around 40MPH all day.

Did manage around 1.5" of NWFS here at the house. Areas on the western end of the county got a few inches and the ski resorts all did really well.

Today is the spring equinox. And the next week looks to really feel like spring. Near 80 for highs today....low to mid 80s for highs tomorrow! Especially across the Western portions of Alabama. Looks like 70s will continue through the weekend for Central AL. I don't wanna jinx anything, but I think we've hit our last freeze (outside of perhaps the very NE portion of the state) til fall for MS and AL.

Don't rule out some isolated spots hitting the upper 80s today in West AL. RGEM and HRRR are showing highs in the 85-88 degree range for TCL and southward.
