So would this technically be the second or third landfall? TWC the other night had a graphic talking about it making a second landfall on Friday Night.

It would be 3rd I would think.

The NHC declared a second landfall at Copano Bay:

The LSU vs BYU game will not be played in Houston. Different neutral sites are being considered.

The game will be in New Orleans.

May see a tornado threat for AL/GA/NC Thu-Sat. Harvey is gonna a hold together pretty well.

One of my mission controller friends at ISS Mission Control forwarded me this. They have basically been in a shelter in place situation for a few days.

This morning North & Central Alabama and surrounding areas were under a marginal risk for tomorrow, but they have now upgraded it to a slight and may be upgraded further to enhanced in later outlooks. From the SPC:

Scattered bands/clusters of storms migrating through this region will likely result in occasional mesocyclogenesis and perhaps a few tornadoes, with this risk being maximized across portions of northeastern MS/northern AL/middle Tennessee/northwest GA where shear/instability parameters are highest. Portions of this area may need to be upgraded to Enhanced for 10% or greater tornado probabilities in later outlooks.

I just lifted this from Brad Travis at WAFF 48. The Russellvill/Phil Campbell numbers are a little concerning.

Tonight's Rangers vs. Astros game is being played in Tampa. Also, the annual preseason NFL game between the Texans and Cowboys has been cancelled.

NHC's report on Harvey has been released.

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL092017_Harvey.pdf

This stands out:

Harvey was the most significant tropical cyclone rainfall event in United States history, both in scope and peak rainfall amounts, since reliable rainfall records began around the 1880s. The highest storm total rainfall report from Harvey was 60.58 inches near Nederland, Texas, with another report of 60.54 inches from near Groves, Texas. Both of these values (and from five other stations) exceed the previously accepted United States tropical cyclone storm total rainfall record of 52.00 inches at Kanalohuluhulu Ranger Station, Hawaii, in August of 1950 from Hurricane Hiki. A map of the storm-total rainfall associated with Harvey (or its post-tropical phase over the Ohio Valley) is given in Fig. 7.

For the continental United States, the previous tropical cyclone rainfall record was 48.00 inches in Medina, Texas from Tropical Storm Amelia in 1978. It is remarkable that during Harvey, eighteen values over 48 inches were recorded (Fig. 8) across southeastern Texas, with 36 to 48 inches recorded in the Houston metro area. These rains caused catastrophic flooding in Harris and Galveston counties, with 9 out of the 19 official river gauges in Harris County (which includes the city of Houston) recording all-time high flood stages. Table 3 shows selected heavy rain totals, Hurricane Harvey 7 and a full listing of rainfall reports can be found in a supplementary data file at: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/supplemental/harvey_rain.xlsx.

Its not just that Harvey was a record setter for rain, it is by how much it beat the record.
