The voter fraud "commission" that Trump setup with Pence/Kobach leading the charge wants to get the Name, Address, DOB, last 4 of SSN, phone numbers, and voting record of millions of Americans to "detect" voters fraud. When challenged on collecting this information, they said there would be numerous safeguards to prevent the collected information from falling into the wrong hands or being exposed publicly.

As a federal program, a comment period is required by law. So what did the fraud commission and the Whitehouse do with the personal information (name, email address, telephone numbers, etc) of people that wrote in? They published it unredacted online on the Whitehouse's website.

Whitehouse.gov link:

https://t.co/wQhK2Gs4ls?amp=1

Now these people are subject to personal harassment, swatting, identity fraud, and other things that THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT TO BEGIN WITH. Ironically, the guy that wrote in saying he doesn't want his name, address, etc to be made public accidentally or intentionally... had his freaking info published by the Whitehouse!!!

Perhaps they will take the link down, but I downloaded it, and I personally verified that these morons put the unredacted personal information of people criticize their invasion of privacy in this document and published it on Whitehouse.gov.

Hard to see how that's an accident. So, they are either blatantly, intentionally, and maliciously trying to harm these people or completely incompetent with the safeguarding of personal information -- which was why they were being criticized to begin with...

BTW, an additional piece of info about the FusionGPS conspiracy theory being pushed by the WH and its allies:

FusionGPS was not originally hired by Democrats. They were hired by Republicans to do opposition research on Trump. And, the Trump dossier project and the work of the former British intelligence operative didn't commence until AFTER Trump Jr. held his meeting with the Russians.

Which, by the way, if you are paying attention, has now been updated again to mention an inconvenient fact that "full transparency" Don Jr. forgot to mention in his prior four statements about the meeting. A former Russian military intelligence operative (from the Russian GRU) also attended the meeting. Don Jr. did not mention that in any of his statements or his interview with Hannity. So much for transparency!

Here's the kicker. Guess who hacked the DNC, Podesta, and attempted to compromise the computers and network of voting equipment vendors? Russian Military intelligence - - the GRU.

Can Trump supporters just make this easier on themselves and us and just admit they don't care whether or not Trump, his family, and campaign colluded with the Russians to influence the election? It would save everyone a lot of time. Just admit you don't care one bit and that the ends justifies the means.

I enjoy and read all your posts Evan. It's good to see logical and sourced information prevailed over the old rumors and falsehoods and opinions of such, which made up a majority of the old thread.

I almost feel a shiver coming over me as I type this, but I believe it is now clear and without doubt that Russia executed a well-planned and extensive intelligence operation to not only interfere with our election, but to control the outcome so that it was assured that the Russian government would greatly benefit.

That means, not only did they attempt to interfere so that Trump won, but they also did so in such a manner as to assure that even if Clinton won she would struggle mightily to govern, be considered an illegitimate winner, and be constantly dogged by scandal.

There's a reason that two specific narratives were pushed so heavily during the campaign by Russian controlled fake news sites and social media bots and advertising. This was to delegitimize Clinton so that if she won her ability to govern on even the smallest issues would be hamstrung and subject to intense protest and backlash.

One, there was a narrative that Bernie Sanders had the election stolen from him even though superdelegates were ALWAYS part of the DNC process and were a major story back during the Obama-Clinton campaign in 2008. This was an attempt to prevent the left from coalescing around Hillary, and had the added benefit of depressing voter turnout in areas that were supportive of Bernie Sanders -- particularly the type of Unionized working class areas that Trump ended up winning enough of to win the election. And, to add insult to injury, Jill Stein's fledgling campaign (remember Stein has her own Russian links like meeting with Putin in Moscow just like Mike Flynn) was given the exact wedge issue (Democrats won't let leftists have a voice) they'd need to create a tighter election outcome like 2000 with Ralph Nader.

Two, Trump and his campaign, using many of the pro-Russia white nationalists and anti-immigrant news sites, personalities, and alt-right groups pushed a narrative before Trump won that the election was going to be rigged and that Hillary would steal it through voter fraud... particularly by supposed illegal aliens numbering in the millions. The latter part of this scheme even became a somewhat mainstream GOP view especially among those allied with Trump. Obviously Trump himself has continued to make this completely false claim with facile statements based on mere emotion and wholly without any evidence or proof. The purpose, obviously, was to delegitimize Clinton if she won. In fact, a "stolen" election narrative would be creating the same protests and unrest on the right that we see from the left, in relation to Trump and the Russia story, yet this time completely without merit or evidence.

Does anyone doubt that either scenario would've made it extremely difficult for Hillary to govern? Trump himself has admitted the Russia scandal has made his job almost impossible, and is part of the reason he's tried to cover it up and bury it. Now, imagine a narrative of a rigged/stolen election on an issue that had been roiling the GOP already for a decade (illegal immigration) and Congress is held by the GOP with Hillary as President. Would she be able to get even a single piece of legislation passed? Would the GOP not take the opposite view of pretty much anything she wanted to do just to obstruct her (say sanctions on Russia, intercession in Syria/no-fly zone, etc).

Many Democrats, especially those on the left, had to be convinced that Russia was an issue. Not so with Republicans and illegal immigration. It would have been a Category 5 hurricane from the first day after her election to the end of her term or impeachment.

In both cases, whether Trump won or lost, Russia was going to get what they wanted. Yes, the Obama administration absolutely dropped the ball and deserves immense shame and investigation for absolutely mishandling one of the biggest events in our country's history. But more to the point, without the willing collaboration of Trump and his campaign, and Trump's willingness to spout fake news and conspiracy theory without reason or shame, it never gets to this point. Trump and his campaign were critical to Russia no matter the outcome. And you don't think the Russians were aware of his proclivity for conspiracy theories (Obama birther stupidity) as well as his comfort in "making deals" even with shady Russians (see his past getting Russian financing/investment, selling tons of real estate to Russians, and other Russian business links) and not caring about where the "money" or in this case information (perhaps money as well) came from or who stood to benefit?

Because as long as Donald J. Trump benefited, it was a deal worth doing. Does anyone doubt that?

As I stated previously, this is scandal far larger and more impactful than Watergate. This is thousands of times more significant if not infinitely so.

And more and more people are seeing it:

Reluctant Trump supporters like Andrew McCarthy from NRO, Krauthammer, and many others that were even willing to overlook or defend the Comey firing. They've made clear that the news over the past few days is a bridge too far.

How long before a few major Republicans decide the same, or that it's no longer going to end well and best start heading for the lifeboats? More importantly, how long before Rupert Murdoch or his sons decide Trump is a lost cause? Because Trump can survive a few GOP defections, but if he loses Fox News then it's lights out night night.

Or the Russians could have just done it for kicks and laughs due to our highly partisan nation with its ever increasing volatility amoung everyone. Our nation is on the fast track to insolvency without Russian influence and they know that. Either party could have elected Jesus and not had a bill passed unless he had a majority in both houses.

If you wanted an election to mess with, this was it. Perhaps Putin had a wager on Trump back when the odds were astronomical.

Spare me the drama please. Where is your "shiver" about 20 trillion in debt, a ruling elite that does not live by the laws they make for the rest of us ? Where is your "shiver" over the almost total political corruption in Washington, judges that are not faithful to the Constitution ? Where is your " shiver" over the fact that politicians have robbed from medicare and Social Security and gotten away with it. I could go on but you know how the system is rigged. You sound just like Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper. Trump, Jr. got duped into a meeting he thought was about dirt on Hillary. Turns out she was trying to lobby the potential Republican nominees son over the Magnitsky act and the adoption of Russian children by American families. I have seen zero information that any information was exchanged by either side. Now, i do not have my nose in front of a computer screen or TV all day so who knows what is out there. The dems will continue this to keep their own Russian collusion from being exposed. So will their willing accomplices in the media. I predict that before this is over you will have egg on your face and crow on your plate!

Also, what policy of Trumps regarding Russia beneficial to Putin and Russia ? Putin owned Obama and Clinton for eight years. Why would he want a change ? It is illogical to think Putin wanted Trump to win.

Evan... your posts are fascinating on this subject. I appreciate all the research and detail you put into them.

Go back and read his missives from the primary and general election. They were equally as well written and sourced. However, the conclusions he drew from them were almost all wrong. I believe he is headed for a repeat performance.

I know... it took a lot of people by surprise including me. Who would have thought Putin's operatives would have been so successful?

What conclusions were wrong? Did the Trump campaign collude with Russia? Yes. Did Trump not change one iota? He didn't. Has Trump turned out to be incompetent, his own worst enemy, and caused massive grief with Congress preventing this from passing legislation? Yep. Has he damaged relationships with allies and made a mockery of our foreign policy? Yep.

As I told you previously via private message, I certainly do not recall EVER saying there was a zero chance that Trump could win. In fact, I opposed him so heavily in the primary because I said that although his chances to win were much much less than any of the other GOP candidates, and I didn't think he would be Hillary, the chance that he COULD win bothered me enough to oppose him at all stages.

Let's keep in mind that Trump and his own campaign didn't think he was going to win even in election night. Let's not try to re-write history. I didn't think he would win, but I always entertained the possibility that he could. Plus, although I knew the fake news sites and the Russian botnets were in overdrive, I didn't realize that they had access to voter data for micro-targeting, and didn't know for sure that Russia was doing everything in their power to win it for Trump.

The man won by 80,000 votes. Let's not act like he received some huge mandate. There's a reason why his approval rating is in the low to mid 30's and that he's literally the most unpopular President of modern times.

Again, what specifically was I wrong about? We all know the posts from the old forum are gone, but there's enough people here to at least remember the basics. How many times did I say 70 year old men don't change? How many times did I say he would be a drag on the GOP? And, I certainly pointed out at the time he would be a disaster due to impatience, ignorance, and total lack of desire to learn anything about policy.

How's the travel ban going? Oh, he and his administration rushed it so their executive order has been neutered more times than an alley cat. Any major legislation? Nope. And trust me, no one believes the current GOP Healthcare bill is going to repeal Obamacare or fix our broken system. What has Trump been saying lately? Just pass something. Anything!

Has Trump suddenly become Presidential or is he still the crass, impatient, lying, narcissistic jerk he's always been?

Was I wrong that Trump would engage in nepotism?

Since we don't know yet how heavily Russia was able to influence our election I'd hold my horses on saying I was wrong that he lost. I don't believe any vote tallies or votes themselves were changed after being cast, but there was definitely Russian influence telling people total lies, releasing hacked info, and trying to suppress potential Hillary voters by targeting them with untrue, exaggerated, or stolen information.

Funny how leaks back then were celebrated and were just "getting the truth out" but now leaks are considered wrong and unfair to the President. Guess what? When you decide those are the rules you want to play by don't be surprised when others start playing the game with your new rules.

I don't think I've been wrong about Trump at ALL. Sure, I didn't think he would win, but I also didn't think he, his family, and parts of his campaign were Russian traitors, either. I guess my flaw was not believing Trump to be a bigger dirtbag than I already thought he was. And for that, I apologize. I should've known there wasn't any moral line he wouldn't cross.

I've posted extensively on Medicare and Social Security. Primarily because my generation has to pick up the bill for your generation not electing decent people or holding them accountable. And, because there have been decades in which you all could have demanded the programs be fixed but you all were content to kick the can down the road until you didn't have to pay for the fix itself.

I have posted on the debt -- our deficit just jumped extensively for this most recent quarter as compared to Obama. I've said numerous times that the American people don't want politicians to be honest with them because the ONLY solution is to cut spending AND increase revenue by raising or adding taxes.

But, sorry, the debt kind of isn't priority when our President is in hock to Moscow and leaking secrets to them in the Oval Office. The immediate threat gets my attention. Just a tad bit more important to me that Mika may hurt Trump's feelings and be decides to invade North Korea to show he's a big man. Or, he decides he's going to try out those nukes -- any recall how it had to be explained to him MULTIPLE times why we aren't using them in the Middle East and in other areas to solve our problems?

As for Judges, that's solely your opinion. You say it's unconstitutional because you don't like their decisions. Tell me cases and specific grievances and we can discuss, but there's no wholesale refusal to follow the Constitution anymore than any other time. There are plenty of decisions that I don't agree with, but the Judiciary interprets the law -- it isn't a case of A+B = unconstitutional.

But, hey, if the Constitution is important, I'm sure you want an answer on the emoluments clause that Trump is in violation of, and I'm sure you have a problem with Trump and his fans arguing that free speech should be limited, right? Or "opening up" the libel laws? That's just one Constitutional issue at stake. If the Constitution is important to you it kind of seems like Trump is probably not the guy you want making decisions. He doesn't know how government works, he certainly doesn't understand the Constitution, and it also doesn't seem to be very important to him. Tweeting, playing golf, and watching Fox and Friends is how he spends the bulk of his time. Protector and Guardian of the the Constitution he's not!

Go back and read his missives from the primary and general election. They were equally as well written and sourced. However, the conclusions he drew from them were almost all wrong. I believe he is headed for a repeat performance.
Guessing what average people will do is s lot different than what we are looking at here.

Matt if you're concerned about the "ruling elite" what leads you to believe that a corporate elite would do what's in the best interest of the general public? My concern has always been that there's a delicate balance between corporate power and government power, and lately corporate influence over government has become greater and greater. I don't see how Mr. Billionaire is going to help with that. Not to mention the obvious character flaws, lack of experience, yadda yadda.
As much as a supporter of government programs/assistance/"liberal agenda" as I am, there's no way I'd want our government to progress further on these programs with the corruption and potential corruption hanging over so many areas. This is the primary reason I don't ignore character traits in our leadership, and the primary reason I oppose Trump. I don't trust him and he doesn't unite our country. He only unites a minority, loyal supporters. There's already enough disinterest in politics as it is.

Well I see the Repub candidates for senate have started running the campaign ads, at least Mo and Big Luther have. Just waiting for Judge Roy to join the fray. Looks like we'll get to see 4 months of bickering over who has the most guns, who has the biggest Bible (KJV preferred), who will build the biggest wall, and who loves Trump the most. The sad thing is, this is the kind of pablum their constituents seem to care the most about. Could we please have a Repub candidate that would credibly address in their ads the debt/deficit, Social Security/Medicare crises, trade deficits, healthcare reform, Russa, etc instead of guns, Bibles, and walls? Haven't heard anything from the Dems yet, but the way things have started off with the Pubs, I might be listening this year.
