Can you guys just move on from this please? There are many possible outcomes of the Comey firing, but our best, and only concise answer is we don't know. I've watched so many people get into huge fights over this issue and it's honestly stupid.

The MSM has blabbed on about a Russia connection with Trump for over 7 months now. It's time for them to put up or shut up. I don't want to hear about any of it anymore unless actual evidence comes out. Can we talk about actual politics and not completely cocoon ourselves in baseless speculation?

Why don't we talk about some actual issues? BLM, Antifa, Trumpcare, The Alt-right, the phasing out of religious values in America, Education, you know...something besides angry clinton-supporter salt about an election that's long since over that leftist media refuses to let go? Aren't classic liberals, moderates, conservatives, etc. supposed to be smarter than this crap?

This is sort of why I'm really scared of American politics and no longer telling people to get involved; our entire discourse has descended into a sort of primitive tribalism that's really scary.

That's out of proportion, this isn't "angry clinton-supporter salt about an election that's long since over" - this is current politics, it's a completely justified topic and 100% relevant. Many of the people who are disgusted by Trumps actions on these forums are Republicans and Independents. I'm not going to not discuss a presidential scandal in the immediate aftermath of it's occurrence. It's a huge story. Go ahead and discuss those topics if you want to, get the chatter going.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump bragged to two top Russian officials last week that firing "nut job" FBI Director James Comey eased "great pressure" on him, The New York Times reported Friday.

"I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job," Trump said, according to the Times. "I faced great pressure because of Russia. That's taken off."

Trump's Oval Office meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak came one day after Comey was fired.

The actions and words of Trump make the firing of Comey seem more and more like an effort to disrupt the Russia investigation. If he had left it alone it may have gone away.. but he's dug himself deeper in a hole. I like the way the BBC put the recent revelations:

"Evidence mounts - Anthony Zurcher, BBC North America reporter
Donald Trump called the ongoing Russia investigation a "witch hunt", but reporters have just found a boiling cauldron and a closet full of broomsticks.

The key takeaway from these latest blockbuster stories - there have been so many this week it's hard to keep count - is there's now further evidence of Mr Trump's intent to dismiss FBI Director James Comey because of his handling of the ongoing Russia investigation."

Comey was/is a nut job. What's wrong with speaking the truth ?

Trump has been in Saudi Arabia for more than 24 hours and a new war has yet to break out. Amazing. He's actually been outstanding in my opinion.

I'm glad the bar was set so high!

Based on trumps statement, why do you think he fired comey?

Comey had become obsessed with himself. He failed with regards to Hillary and her emails. He has lost confidence with agents in the field(despite what you hear).
I'm glad the bar was set so high!

$350 billions arms deal. That's pretty good for jobs here in the U.S. would you not agree ?

Once again, I'm not defending Trump but let's wait and see what it really said. This little paragraph is from the NYT article.

The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.

Any body should take what the NYT and Washington Post prints and assume the liberal slant as is the opposite for Fox News.

"The pool has confirmed that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson held a news conference in Riyadh that U.S. reporters were not told about."

Of course it's relevant, but what exactly can you do besides speculate? This isn't a scandal, this is a potential scandal, and furthermore one fueled by almost zero evidence started by a partisan witch hunt back in October/November.

My speculation is that Trump knows nothing of a Russia connection, but one of his cabinet or others does and won't tell him because they know he can't keep his mouth shut, so he sees the media and Comey continuing this investigation and pulls a classic "I'm the boss" move and tells Comey to **** ***, firing him when he doesn't. This falls well in line with the rest of the Whitehouse saying the firing was over the Clinton investigation when Trump literally said hours later in an interview that it was about Russia. This would make no sense for him to do if he was trying to interfere with the investigation, however, because firing Comey doesn't stop the investigation in the first place. Basically, the most likely scenario, imo, is Trump shooting himself in the foot. So par for the course.

I have zero investment in this witch hunt, and I'm more than happy to talk about something else, but what can anybody here offer up on the case besides pure conjecture?

Why include them when all they do is lie about you. He is sending a message to the press that needs to be sent.
